Before Game 7 on Sunday night, many feared Brett Brown was coaching for his job. When Kawhi Leonard‘s game-winning shot clanked around the rim and dropped, those fears became concrete. Some thought Brown was out the door.
In a comforting and almost surprising move, the Philadelphia 76ers quickly doused those flames. Owner Joshua Harris informed ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Brown will return as head coach next season, ending the speculation and avoiding (another) leadership void heading into an important summer.
Brown has coached the Sixers to consecutive 50+ win seasons after enduring years of rebuilding during the process.
