The Philadelphia Sixers' restricted free agency standoff with Quentin Grimes extended into the start of the season, with the guard missing media day on Friday. He won't travel with the team to Abu Dhabi this weekend, either.
With the anxiety surrounding Grimes' status heightening among the fan base, Daryl Morey did little to calm those anxieties at media day. He pointed out that there isn't much he can say about the ongoing contract discussions, but he said that the two sides will "hopefully" agree to a resolution in the next few days.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Wednesday that the Sixers and Grimes are still far apart in their negotiations for a new deal.
