Julius Erving released from hospital after falling ill at Sixers game

Famed former 76er Julius Erving has been released from the hospital after falling ill during the Sixers win over the Pistons Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

Erving’s management team released a statement Saturday afternoon with an update that thanked friends and fans for their support.

“Mr. Erving has been released from the hospital after a comprehensive medical evaluation. He’s expected to make a full recovery,” the statement read.

Erving, 67, who was honored Friday on the 35th anniversary of his famous cradle dunk against the Lakers, rang the Sixers’ ceremonial Liberty Bell prior to the Sixers rout of the Pistons.
