Joel Embiid to undergo surgery to repair torn radial collateral ligament in left hand

Just a few hours ago, news broke that Joel Embiid tore a ligament as a result of dislocating the ring finger on his left hand in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now, as Sixers fans prepare to take in a game against the Boston Celtics, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports that Embiid will have surgery tomorrow to repair the torn ligament.

Bontemps notes that Embiid will be re-evaluated in 1 to 2 weeks.

Let’s start with the obvious: this means Embiid is out for at least the next week or two.
