Joel Embiid often makes news when he lands on the 76ers’ injury report. On Friday, he made news for not being on it.
Why?
Embiid, who has missed nine games this year due to injury or rest, was in noticeable pain, and admitted so after Wednesday’s 112-106 win over the visiting San Antonio Spurs due to a sprained right hand.
Despite the discomfort, he managed to score 21 points, grab 11 rebounds and block four shots in 35 minutes and 20 seconds.
When the Sixers delivered the injury report after today’s shootaround in preparation for Friday’s game at the Wells Fargo Center with the Detroit Pistons (20-16), Embiid’s name was absent.
