Brett Brown is no longer Ben Simmons’ coach. No, I’m not talking about the fact that Brett was fired by the Sixers in late August. Instead, news came today courtesy of Basketball Australia that the former Sixers head coach is stepping down as the coach of the Australian national team for the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics. Here was the full statement from Brett:
“Whilst I have a deep and long-standing passion for Australian Basketball, I am currently unable to commit to coaching the Boomers at next year’s Olympic Games. The uncertainties around the direction of my professional future unfortunately mean that I cannot commit to the time and preparation that this job deserves and requires.
