Joel Embiid "seriously in play" for 76ers at #3 in draft

In a look into 76ers rumors prior to today's NBA Draft, injured Kansas center Joel Embiid's potential could be enough for the Philadelphia 76ers to look past his health and draft him with the third overall pick.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, the 76ers, Celtics, and Lakers are all options near the top of the draft for the former project first overall selection:

Embiid recently underwent surgery for a fractured right foot. His recovery time will most definitely cause him to miss summer league action and training camp, along with a chunk of the 2014-15 NBA season.

However, Embiid has established himself as the most versatile big men of the past few NBA Drafts - possessing a dominant edge to his game defensively and a burgeoning skill set on the offensive end. His ceiling as a player could be what makes him worth the gamble for the 76ers at three - providing they choose not to trade their selection.
