The Penn State men’s hockey team took the ice on Hockey Halloween at Pegula Ice Arena looking to scare a couple points out of visiting Stonehill.
The Nittany Lions won a hard fought battle 3-2 after a mental error haunted the Skyhawks.
The first half of the first period went by at a stalemate, with each team tied in shots until Stonehill’s Billy Renfrew was sent to the box with 9:10 remaining on the clock.
The Nittany Lions failed to convert and the Skyhawks escaped the defensive zone as the penalty expired.
However, just seconds later, Nolan Collins stole the breakout pass and Reese Laubach flipped a pass behind his back to Matt DiMarsico who scored a highlight reel goal while falling to the ice, making the score 1-0.
