Why Penn State's white cleats matter this weekend, and more about the Lions' 'Generations of Greatness' game

Penn State's players will wear white cleats, instead of their usual black, for Saturday's game against Indiana as part of the program's 'Generations of Greatness' game at Beaver Stadium.

The shoes are part of retro uniforms that the team will wear, which will feature but aren't limited to helmets with numbers on the side, white pants with a blue stripe down the side, and striped socks.

Game day will feature a number of throwback moments too, including but not limited to the Blue Band playing songs from the 1950s on, diamonds across the end zones as a nod to the 1960s, and the north and south video boards will have "a vintage look and feel," according to the program.
