What we learned from Penn State men's soccer's overtime loss to UCF

Coming into Friday night’s season opener against UCF, a lot was unknown about this Penn State team.

After seeing the squad out there for a full 90 minutes, newly appointed coach Jeff Cook’s vision started to become a lot clearer.

Cook’s side came out in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and we got a glimpse of how he intends to use his players, new and old.

Attack

Freshman attacker Jeremy Rafanello got the start at the lone striker position, and his impact was felt immediately. Rafanello found himself at the end of long-balls from the defense and midfield all throughout the first half.
