Penn State football's 1988 Blue-White game was played on April 23. Blue won, 38-15.
In The Sunday Patriot-News the next day, Ronnie Christ wrote:
"Joe Paterno called it 'show business,' but it really wasn't much of a show.
The 22,000 fans in Beaver Stadium for Penn State's Blue-White spring game saw mostly a defensive struggle until the Blue exploded for 21 fourth-quarter points and a 38-15 victory.
The absence of offense in the first half didn't seem to bother Paterno. The Penn State coach realizes this has become a game for the fans.
'We accomplished a great deal,' said Paterno, speaking of spring practice in general.
