After spending his first season in Happy Valley primarily on special teams, Jaylen Reed appeared in every Penn State football game from 2022 to 2024. In 2023, Reed had 46 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 sack in his first season as a starting safety.
The 2024 season was by far his most productive, collecting 98 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 2.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and. fumble recovery. After Kevin Winston Jr. went down with a season-ending injury in Week 2, Reed became Penn State’s stabilizing force in the secondary. He was named second team All-Big Ten in 2024.
