What’s the big deal?
The last time a 1-6 BYU faced another team with a 1-6 or worse record was 1955, so this is uncharted territory for the Cougars. Both teams desperately need a win to break out of bad slumps. This figures to be a battle between BYU’s ineffective offense (242.4 yards, 11 points per game) and East Carolina’s leaky defense, allowing 600 yards and 50 points per game.
The other side of the ball is intriguing as well. East Carolina’s offense has been able to move the ball against just about everybody on its schedule, specifically through the air.
