Following a tough loss to Missouri State on Monday, the Nittany Lions got back into the win column Friday night against Mercyhurst, thanks to a season-high five goals and strong defense.
Five different Nittany Lions found the back of the net on a variety of looks. The most common scoring opportunities came off corner kicks, of which Penn State had eight. Twice, it was able to turn them into goals.
It took a while, however, for things to click. Through the first 38 minutes of play, the Lions had only managed three shots on goal and were looking at another low-scoring contest.
