Penn State was an underdog for much of last season’s Frozen Four run, but this season presents a different label. The No. 4 Nittany Lions are serious national title contenders, which means they are now “the hunted,” as Dane Dowiak put it.
Dowiak said Clarkson “wanted it more” in Thursday’s 6-4 loss. In Game 2, the Golden Knights started with that same intensity to take a 2-0 lead.
The difference on Friday: Penn State responded like a top-five team, erasing a two-goal deficit to earn a 5-2 win.
Coach Guy Gadowsky altered his lineup on Friday.
