Players-only meeting propels No. 5 Penn State men's hockey back into win column

After No. 5 Penn State suffered a 7-1 rout in front of its home crowd on Friday, the team held a 20-minute players-only meeting. The message: “This is unacceptable, this is not who we are and we’re not going to let this happen again.”

Coach Guy Gadowsky felt his team relied too much on skill in Friday’s loss. He thought his players had abandoned the “Penn State brand of hockey,” which requires players to outwork their opponent for 60 minutes.

Gadowsky wanted the Nittany Lions to return to that brand on Saturday, and return they did in a gritty 4-2 victory over No.
