Pitt loses starters Hendrix, Zeise for season

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt starting defensive end Dewayne Hendrix and starting linebacker Elijah Zeise are out for the season, coach Pat Narduzzi announced after the Panthers' 42-39 win over Penn State on Saturday.

Both players were injured last week in the season opener against Villanova and didn't suit up against the Nittany Lions.

Hendrix has a foot injury, while Zeise has an ankle injury.

Without them, Pitt started veteran Rori Blair at defensive end and Oluwaseun Idowu at linebacker.

"It's unfortunate because they are two great young men and great players, and we are going to miss them on the playing field," Narduzzi said.
