Penn State wrestling starts California road trip with dominant win over CSU-Bakersfield

Bo Nickal just went with the flow.

Right before his first period pin fall victory, Penn State’s eighth ranked 174-pound freshman denied his opponent's, No. 16 Bryce Hammond, attempt at a somersault escape. Nickal just went for the ride as his feet left the mat and he guided Hammond’s shoulders to the floor.

Nickal’s win was the No. 1 Nittany Lions’ (3-0) second pin on Friday night, as they defeated California State-Bakersfield (3-2) 39-3 in Bakersfield, California.

“Bryce [Hammond] made a mistake and Bo [Nickal] felt it,” Penn State assistant coach Cody Sanderson told 1390 WRSC.
