Penn State wrestlers, recruits shine at Junior World Team Trials

Multiple wrestlers took home their weight class championships as Nittany Lion representatives accounted for half of the U20 World Team.

Nate Desmond - 57 kilograms

Nate Desmond is one of the more underrated incoming freshmen and will likely slot in as the 125-pound backup for Penn State.

The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, native rolled to the semifinals with two shutout tech falls, 11-0 and 10-0.

Desmond’s run ended quickly, however, losing to eventual champion Ignacio Villasenor. The No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2027 defeated Desmond in a close match.

The incoming freshman fell to Penn wrestler Davis Motyka in the consolations, ending his run before reaching the third place bout.
