Penn State women’s tennis assistant coach Alexandra Anghelescu elevated to head coach

On Monday, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Sandy Barbour announced that former assistant coach Alexandra Anghelescu was promoted to head coach of the Nittany Lions for the upcoming season.

Anghelescu's promotion makes her the 11th coach in program history after former coach Chris Cagle resigned in May after five seasons at the helm.

"Alex will bring an energy, excitement and a focus to our program, from which she will lead us to success on and off the court," Barbour told GoPSUSports. "She has demonstrated the ability to create high achievement at every level of the game of tennis; collegiately as a player, in the professional ranks and as a collegiate assistant coach.
