Penn State women’s lacrosse wins at Michigan

Madison Carter once again proved why she's one of the Big Ten's best freshmen.

The attacker/midfielder scored an early equalizer to put Penn State (10-4, 2-1 Big Ten ) on the board, then scored three more as the Nittany Lions downed Michigan (6-9, 0-3 Big Ten ), 13-8 .

Coach Missy Doherty said after the game that Carter was the Lions' most effective offensive player in Ann Arbor, and she keyed a much-needed rebound for the Lions after they were held to just seven goals at home by Cornell last Wednesday.

After Carter matched Jess Angerman's early goal, Wolverines top scorer Kim Coughlan put her team ahead again with 25:12 left in the first half.
