Penn State women's volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley was announced as the recipient of the Jimmy V Award on Monday for her perseverance with cancer while helping Penn State win a national championship.

The award was introduced in 2007 in honor of Jim Valvano, who died 10 years after leading NC State to an NCAA Championship with metastatic adenocarcinoma.
