Penn State softball splits weekday doubleheader against Ohio State

After salvaging a single win against Purdue, Penn State was able to ride the confidence into its doubleheader against Ohio State, splitting the series.

Going against a strong Buckeye team, the Nittany Lions held their ground in game one, escaping with a victory.

Game two saw Penn State get routed in a blowout defeat, the team’s sixth mercy-rule loss of the season.

The Nittany Lions played with fire in the first game, however, as Ohio State left the bases loaded stranded four times, and Kylie Lingenfelter was excellent at getting herself out of unfavorable positions.

The Buckeyes left a total of 17 runners on base and committed an uncharacteristic six errors.
