Penn State poised to have plethora of playmakers in the secondary

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop sits down with recruits, he is sure to ask them one question.

“I’m closing my eyes, who do you model your style of play after?” Shoop said Thursday while meeting with reporters as the first week of the Penn State coaches caravan finished.

On the recruiting trail and this spring with his players in Happy Valley, Shoop said everybody wanted to watch film on and model their game after the Seattle Seahawks’ Legion of Boom. Penn State safety Marcus Allen wanted to study cutups of the hard-hitting Kam Chancellor, and corner-turned-safety Jordan Lucas zeroed in on four-time Pro Bowler Earl Thomas.
