No.8-seed Penn State is coming off a 3-0 shutout win over Army West Point, as it heads to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on No. 1-seed Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The last time Penn State saw Virginia was earlier in the season on Sept. 4, where it fell 1-0, again in Charlottesville. Back in September, coach Erica Dambach felt her team came off as timid. The Nittany Lions were unable to get a ton of shots off, resulting in a shutout loss.
“I do think we came out a little hesitant the first time we played them, obviously, we were in Charlottesville, a little bit of a young group, and didn’t know what to expect,” Dambach said.
