Penn State men's volleyball survives early hiccup to take season opener against Mt. Olive

Penn State started the season out on a positive note with a 3-1 win over Mount Olive, but the win was not without its hiccups.

The two teams came out of the gates neck and neck.

As they battled it out, neither team could pull ahead more than three points.

Penn State was finding success from the middle with Jalen Penrose and Kevin Gear each hitting 1.000 in the first, but the number of service errors and attack errors offset their performance and Mount Olive pulled ahead just far enough to win the set 25-23.

In the second, the Nittany Lions started to get scrappier on defense, diving for balls and handling out-of-system situations better.
