Penn State men’s lacrosse sees huge opportunity go to waste in road loss to Rutgers

Penn State had a golden opportunity on Sunday night.

It was a chance to lock up a spot in the Big Ten Tournament and take a huge step towards the NCAA Tournament. A sloppy display saw their chance for a key win go to waste.

The 11th ranked Nittany Lions fell to No. 10 Rutgers 11-8 in Piscataway, New Jersey.

While the Nittany Lions looked good in the game’s opening minutes and took an early lead, the rest of the first half was some of their worst play of the season. The Scarlet Knights took a four-goal lead into the halftime break and Penn State made a run at tying it up in the fourth quarter, but fell short.
