Penn State Football: Trace McSorley shows pro ability at Senior Bowl

A much-anticipated Senior Bowl for Penn State football’s Trace McSorley saw some magical plays Saturday, and he ended with a respectable showing that should garner some NFL interest. He was far from perfect, missing some throws in his 7-of-13, 59-yard-passing performance. Still, McSorley’s positives outweighed the negatives though.

He answered critics with his play under center. McSorley played his entire career in a shotgun-based, spread offense. Draft pundits and NFL talent evaluators regularly target that as a flaw or label QBs like that a, “System guy.” In addition, his play-action, rollout completion via a jump pass showed he could throw over tall, oncoming defenders despite his, 6-feet tall stature (Video Courtesy of Nittany Nation).
