A big get by frame and stature, linebacker Tyler Elsdon committed to Penn State last June and never wavered from his commitment despite several scholarship offers from schools across the nation. Elsdon held offers from every Ivy League school as well as Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Air Force, Army, Buffalo and Bowling Green, among others.
Elsdon enters the fold at linebacker as both Cam Brown and Jan Johnson’s departures leave the hole of over 1,000 snaps from a season ago. Brown recorded 72 total tackles while Johnson recorded 62 total tackles in 2019 and the need to get deeper at linebacker was apparent.
