In our final player profile at the running spot, VBR takes a look at redshirt junior running back Mark Allen. The oldest running back in Penn State football’s rotation gives Penn State a trustworthy veteran.
Allen suffered the misfortune of arriving on campus just one year before Barkley. He redshirted the 2014 season and looked primed to get some reps in 2015, but Barkley had other plans. As a true freshman, Barkley showcased the talent the entire country has now witnessed.
Allen carried the ball just 27 times in 2015 and 29 times in 2016.
