Penn State Football: Barkley set for monster year without Beckham

Soon-to-be second-year running back Saquon Barkley got the keys to the New York Giants’ offense Wednesday, when the organization sent top receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. Penn State football’s all-time great back put up 2,028 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in his rookie year. The trade means the talented, do-it-all back will likely see an increase in touches.

Beckham was responsible for 17.3 percent of the offensive yards last year and racked up 1,000-plus yards in all four years he was able to play in the majority of the games. Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning isn’t getting any younger, and he’s probably in his last year with the organization.
