This week marked the 100th and potentially final showdown between Penn State football and the Pitt Panthers. Maybe one day the rivalry will re-ignite at a neutral site for years to come — but it won’t be happening anytime soon as both programs will take a break from the game.
What a way to go out, though. After Penn State beat Pitt handily over the last two seasons, many were expecting the third matchup to have similar results. The Nittany Lions did end up winning, but it surely wasn’t a blowout like many within Happy Valley were calling for.
