Penn State field hockey responds from loss to Michigan with a win over Michigan State

After a performance against Michigan where it struggled in every aspect of the game, No. 4 Penn State responded well in Friday night's meeting with Michigan State.

The Nittany Lions used a first-half goal from junior Moira Putsch to take down the Spartans in East Lansing, 1-0.

Despite netting only one goal, the Penn State offense looked much more cohesive than it did against the Wolverines, throwing 21 shots on the cage compared to Michigan State's eight.

The lone goal from Putsch came in just the second minute of play, when Aurelia Meijer fed the ball to the Nittany Lions' leading goal scorer and she tucked it past Spartans goalkeeper Maira Fletcher.
