Shaken but not completely rattled after a 3-1 loss to Maryland, Penn State didn’t play its cleanest field hockey but managed to work through early struggles to get back on track. However, the overtime bug bit the Nittany Lions again as they suffered a loss following 80 minutes of a play and a rare shootout.
Lafayette took down No. 16 Penn State 3-2 in the shootout to finish off Penn State’s 0-2 weekend of away play.
The first quarter was characterized by a lot of back-and-forth play. Both teams struggled to connect early with a lot of unforced turnovers.
