A fourth Penn State football player declared his intent to enter the Transfer Portal when it opens on Jan. 2, 2026. Offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier made his announcement via Twitter/X on Friday, Dec. 19.
It read:
"I want to thank the Penn State coaching staff, my teammates, and the entire Penn State community for everything during my time at Penn State. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a great program and for the relationships and lessons I've gained along the way.
"After careful consideration, I will be entering the transfer portal to explore new opportunities.
