Penn State baseball gets shutout by Illinois in Big Ten opener

Penn State’s longest winning streak of the season has come to an end.

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Nittany Lions lost in their Big Ten opener to Illinois, 5-0, on Friday night at Illinois Field in Champaign.

The Lions were shut down by the Fighting Illini starting pitcher, Cody Sedlock. Sedlock pitched seven shutout innings, struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits. The only batter to have success against Sedlock was Jordan Bowersox, who went 2-3 with a double.

The Illini got on the board early, when in the first inning they scored four runs on three hits.
