Penn State baseball falls to Illinois in shootout

For its first series away from Medlar Field at Lubrano Park since March 14, Penn State traveled to Champaign to face Illinois for a three-game Easter weekend series.

In a back-and-forth game, highlighted by Penn State’s bullpen struggles, the Nittany Lions fell to Illinois in Game 1 with a final score of 14-10

The Nittany Lions’ fielding struggles continued into the series against the Illini, with right fielder Adam Cecere dropping a routine pop fly after calling off second baseman Kyle Hannon.

Despite winning its most recent outing in a convincing 10-1 final against Pitt, the blue and white committed three errors.
