Penn State baseball cruises past Xavier, picks up 30th regular season win

With a slight breeze and partly-cloudy skies shadowing Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, Penn State took the field for its final series opener of the regular season. Two cold teams faced off, with the blue and white fresh off a 14-run loss to Pitt, while its opponent, Xavier, stumbled into State College losing two of its last three games.

The Musketeers subpar 12-17 road record and laboring pitching staff stayed its course, as the Nittany Lions captured Game 1 of the series with a 7-1 victory.

Starting pitcher Ryan DeSanto was sent out as an opener, looking to turn the page on three consecutive outings allowing four runs or more.
