Designated hitter John Jones drove in more runs in No. 15 South Carolina’s three-game weekend series than Penn State scored as a team.
He reached base on every one of his 15 plate appearances this weekend. He hit two home runs, one of which was a grand slam in the second game of the series.
On Sunday, Jones added three more hits to his resume as the Gamecocks (8-0) defeated the Nittany Lions, 4-2, to complete the series sweep in Columbia.
“[Jones] is a good player,” coach Rob Cooper said.
