No. 15 Penn State opened its Big Ten season by defeating No. 17 USC in the Team Ream Match 3-2 on Friday. Continuing a long stretch of home matches at Rec Hall, the Nittany Lions played UCLA at noon on Sunday.
With a rocky performance on both sides of the ball, Penn State fell to the Bruins 3-1 in the THON Match.
The blue and white kicked off the contest riding right-side hitter Kennedy Martin’s offensive ability. As the teams traded points back and forth, Martin claimed Penn State’s first three kills.
After a short run by the Bruins, the Nittany Lions seemed shaky midway through the first set.
