Before Matt Campbell even touched down in Happy Valley, he had already begun putting together his Penn State staff. That includes assistants like his longtime defensive coordinator Jon Heacock, who will be following him from Ames, but it also includes front office personnel, like Derek Hoodjer.
Hoodjer has served as Iowa State’s assistant athletics director for football player personnel for the last three seasons, but has been a part of the Iowa State football program since 2011. He began Campbell’s tenure in Ames as his assistant director of recruiting and high school relations before becoming the director of player personnel in 2018.
