Lamar Stevens brining versatility to Penn State men’s basketball

Lamar Stevens is making a case to be in Penn State’s starting five for the season-opener against Lock Haven.

Coach Patrick Chambers marveled at the 6-foot-7, 218-pound forward’s athleticism on media day last Wednesday.

“He’s a freakish athlete,” Chambers said of the freshman out of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia.

Stevens’ combination of great size and athleticism will allow him to play multiple positions all over the court, Chambers said, including both forward positions and even center, “in a pinch.”

“We are moving him all over the place,” Chambers said.
