When Marcus Blaze committed to Penn State, the expectations were high. Blaze was the No. 1 recruit via Flowrestling and impressed in his collegiate debut against No. 18 Oklahoma.
Blaze matched up against Tyson Charmoli, who went 8-3 last season, but made his dual debut tonight and was outmatched by Blaze. The freshman defeated Charmoli by tech fall, 18-3.
“I felt good. Obviously I’ve competed in big scenarios, I guess,” Blaze said. “It was fun. I’m just grateful for the opportunity.”
The match opened with Blaze getting his first takedown of the year, which he built off of in the second period.
