Heart condition forces Penn State's Nana Asiedu to quit football

Nana Asiedu’s Penn State career is over before it began.

The incoming freshman, a four-star rated offensive tackle prospect from Stafford, Va., announced Wednesday night that he is quitting football because of a heart condition.

“This hurts because football was my everything, but god has other plans for me,” he wrote in a statement posted to Twitter.

Asiedu said he will remain on football scholarship with the Nittany Lions despite his diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes the thickening of the heart muscle.
