The Northwestern women’s basketball team has been struck with grief since last Monday when Jordan Hankins, a sophomore forward from Indianapolis, was found in her room after hanging herself, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Wednesday’s NU game against Minnesota was postponed as Hankins’ team attempted to come to grips with the tragedy. On Saturday, the team honored her by wearing her name and number during warm-ups before an 80-67 win over her home-state school Indiana. The Wildcats’ sophomore guard Amber Jamison wore Hankins’ jersey No. 5 during the game. In a moving tribute, about 300 of NU’s 472 total varsity athletes attended the game en masse and many stood throughout in a cluster among baseline seats of Welsh-Ryan Arena.
