Scott Pera was just officially hired as Penn State’s general manager, with one of his main roles being “organizing and executing recruiting and long-term roster management strategies.” On the surface, his job appears as an exciting opportunity in the new era of collegiate athletics — but for Pera, there’s one catch in this situation.

Despite it being the end of May, the Nittany Lions have just nine players on their 2025-26 roster with six spots still open. For reference, Penn State announced its official 2024-25 roster on May 29 last year.

Right now might be some of the toughest days to assist with the Nittany Lions’ recruiting, but the needs for the remaining spots on the roster are clear.
