LAKE FOREST — Marcus Cooper credits his seasons as a reserve in Kansas City more so than his breakout 2016 campaign with the Cardinals for putting him in the position he’s in today: a starting cornerback on a three-year deal with the Bears.

“It was the whole few years I wasn't playing in Kansas City that allowed me to continue to work on my craft mentally, physically, and emotionally,” Cooper said following Tuesday’s OTA. “That prepared me for those moments last year.”

Stepping in last season for Arizona’s injury-riddled secondary, Cooper started 13 games and set career-highs in tackles (69) and interceptions (4).
