Bulldogs 'best Georgia team' Shoop has seen

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop has made a few stops during his 26-year coach career.

In four of his previous seven jobs, Shoop has faced off against Tennessee’s opponent this week, Georgia. Shoop, in his second season with the Vols, has played Georgia as defensive coordinator at Penn State and Vanderbilt, and as a the defensive backs coach at Boston College in 2001. Of all the matchups, though, Shoop believes this year’s Bulldogs are the best he’s seen.

“I’ve played against Georgia at a lot of different places,” Shoop said after Tennessee’s practice Tuesday. “It’s weird, I’ve played against them as much as any team I’ve coached against.
