With many young players desperate to crack an NHL lineup and a rabid Pittsburgh Penguins fanbase in attendance, this year’s preseason game at Pegula Ice Arena did not disappoint.
The Buffalo Sabres won an intense overtime thriller over the Penguins, 4-3, on a goal scored by former Boston University star Jack Eichel early into the extra session.
Many former college hockey stars, including Eichel, contributed tonight.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with each team trading goals throughout the game.
The Buffalo Sabres struck first halfway through the opening period with a goal by Jason Pominville.
