Mitchell Mesenbrink isn’t just one of the most skilled wrestlers in the world on the mat — outside of the mat, Mesenbrink is the philosopher of wrestling. Despite Mesenbrink’s name being synonymous with the sport, he knows that wrestling is miniscule compared to life, and growing as an athlete is secondary to growing as a person.
Mesenbrink’s goal in the Penn State wrestling room isn’t necessarily to act as a teacher in the room, but as a teammate who can collaborate with everyone. The junior wants to build deeper connections with his colleagues and doesn’t view his age or accomplishments as status symbols over the rest of the roster.
